The 4 most inspiring girls with beautiful names are also the most likely to land tech leadership roles, according to a new study.
The study, led by the Stanford Graduate School of Business, surveyed more than 1,400 women in tech, as well as their friends and family.
In all, more than 80 percent of the women had a similar name as one of the top 50 most inspirational girls with a baby name, or a similar-sounding name.
The survey also asked women about their most-desired career path and whether they were open to having their names changed.
Among those who identified as “very open to change,” just 3 percent said they would be willing to change their name, compared to 9 percent who said they were willing to be more cautious.
Women who identified more cautiously were more likely to say they would prefer to remain as the names on their birth certificates.
Among them, the most cautious respondents were the most comfortable with their choice to change a name to a more creative, artistic or other name.
This study is part of Recode’s series “The Biggest Names.”
Recode will host the show on Thursday, Jan. 11 at 10:30 a.m. ET.
